Districts Lending
Library - Address: 2-4 Gheorghe Popa Street
The building of the library was build in 1913 in a secessionist
style. First lending library in Arad was build in 1881 and had 1.523
books. During the time, being helped by the donations and
subventions, the number of book has grow. Due to the increasing
number of the readers, in 1931, the public lending library has moved
his headquarters in the Cultural Palace (Palatul Cultural). The
number of the works in the library has grow, thanks to an important
donation made by A.D. Xenopol and Vasile Goldis – 2.032 books.
Starting with 1984, the headquarter of the library was moved in the
actual building located in Gheorghe Popa Street. The lending library
has at the moment 500.000 books.
Catholic Church and Vicarage from Aradul-nou
Address: 33 Timisorii Road
The Church was build between 1812-1821 in baroque style and was
avowed architectural monument.The vicarage was build in 1725.
Originally, the vicarage sheltered a Franciscan monastery, and it’s
considered to be the oldest Vicarage in Arad.
Lutheran Evangelic Church Address: 61 Revolutiei Blvd.
The church was build in 1906 in neogothic style, following the
plans of architect Ludovic Szantay.This Church was build under then
name of "Red Church" because of the exterior that has been realized
from polished red brick. The main tower of the church has a height
of 46 meters.
Serbian Orthodox Church – "Saints Petru and Pavel"
Address: 1 Sarbeasca Square
Realized in early baroque style, the church was build between
1698–1702. In 1790 the church was restored. The church tower, build
from bronze plates in rococo style. On the top of the tower it’s a
cross that stands on a globe.

Administrative Palace
Address: 75 Revolutiei Blvd.
Build between 1872-1874 after the plans of architect Pekar Francisc.
From an architectonic point of view, the building joins the Fleming
neorenascentist style with the late medieval mayoralty style. The
tower of the palace has a height of 54 meters. In 1878 was brought
from Switzerland the horologe from the tower of the palace.

Romanian
Orthodox Cathedral "Sfantul Ioana Botezatorul"
Adress: 1 Catedralei Square
The cathedral was build between 1862- 1865 in baroque style, after
the plans of architect Ant. Gzigler. In 1966, cathedral'S interior
was redecorated with frescos from Byzantine style by painter Eremia
Profeta.
Roman-Catholic Cathedral
The cathedral was build between 1902-1904 in Renaissance style,
after the plans of architect Emil Tabacovis. The edifice impresses
us through his monumental columns and his vaulted style in which the
entry has been realized. A replica of Michelangelo’s famous
sculpture "Oieta" located in San Pietro Cathedral in Rome, is above
the access gateway of the cathedral.
The Citadel of Arad Situated on the banks of Mures river.
The citadel was build between 1762-1783 after Vauban style,
according plans of Austrian architect Filip Ferdinand Harsch. The
building was raised at the command of the empress Maria Teresa.
Build in six corner star shape, the edifice was endow with three
rows of underground pill boxes and a lot of rows with ditches. On
the premises of the complex was a chapel which was build at the same
time with the citadel. Them in gate and the buildings from inside
were build in a Baroque style. |

Build between 1911 –
1913 after the plans of architect Ludovic Szantay, at the initiative
of the cultural society Kolecsey. From an architectural point of
view, the edifice represents a combination of many styles: classic,
Italian renaissance, French gothic, French baroque and roman.
The front part is electic style and is decorated with a bas-relief
dedicated to
the muses. |

The interior ornament was restored
between 1978-1980 by Milataller brothers and the fresco is polished
with small foil of gold. The ornament of the main lobby is made in a
secession style. The windows are original and are made in a
nouveau-art style. The painting from the dome’s vault represents the
solar system and the Haley comet.During the time, Cultural Palace
was home for many great celebrities: celebrities as George Enescu,
Richard Strauss etc. At this moment the Cultural Palace shelters the
State Philharmonic and Museum Complex from Arad.
State theatre - Address: 103 Revolutiei Blvd.
The building who shelters The State Theatre was build between
1872-1874 in neoclassic style. State Theatre was founded at November
01, 1948 and at November 4, 1948 took place the inauguration
spectacle. At the beginning of the 60’s the building was remade
because it burned in a fire accident.
The old water tower - Situated at the crossroad of the
streets Ioan Rusu Sirianu and P.I. Ceaikovski.
The tower was build in 1896 and in 1927 was restored. The main
reason for which this tower was build is the drinkable water supply
of Arad. The tower has a height of 25 meters, and looks like a
fortification, it’s main attraction being the window and balcony
decoration. |
